The Australian champion wins the final sprint of the Ceratizit Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta, taking the last stage of the Spanish Women’s World Tour race and beating the Italian Letizia Paternoster and Roxane Fournier. It is the first Women’s World Tour win in 2019 for Alé - Cipollini, the 13th overall in the UCI season and the 4th for Chloe Hosking after the final stage at the Women’s Tour Down Under and the first of the Herald Sun Tour (both in Australia in January) and the recent in the stage 1 of the Giro della Toscana - Memorial Michela Fanini in Segromigno in Piano.
Quotes by Chloe Hosking after the race: “What an amazing team victory. Huge ride by all my teammates who totally committed to the team plan. So happy and proud that I could finish off their hard work. Thanks to all the girls and staff for your support and belief, and to the team for helping me to turn the season around.”
Sports Director Giuseppe Lanzoni says: “it is an unforgettable day for all of us. congrats to Chloe and the Team, it’s incredible in such a beautiful location, they have run to take the one and only target, which was the victory.”
Important result also by Karlijn Swinkels, 13th in the sprint at the finish of Plaza Cibeles. The overall winner is Lisa Brennauer from Germany, who was first on Saturday in the Individual Time Trial.
