Two second places, one for the Serbian Champion Jelena Eric in the stage and for Soraya Paladin in the General Classification, are the last awards taken at the end of the Spanish stage race. The Team Alé - Cipollini has been the greatest protagonist, winning three stages of four and the GC leadership for the first two stages. The second place for Soraya Paladin is decided just by the jury who gave 2’’ of gap for her from the first chasers in the GC but those seconds have been cancelled lately, with the Norwegian Borgli as race leader.
The performance by the #YellowFluoOrange ladies has been awesome, as they find the stage podium as well today with Jelena Eric (2°), winner of the bunch sprint one minute later than the solo winner Lourdes Oyarbide. Soraya Paladin finishes four and wins the points classification with 65 km points.
The team moves to the Basque Country, where tomorrow the one-day classic race in Durango will take place. This is the opening event in the week of the Emakumeen Bira, the Women’s World Tour race of the Basque Country. The Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti has chosen for the line-up Nadia Quagliotto, Karlijn Swinkels, Soraya Paladin, Jelena Eric, Ahreum Na and Anna Trevisi. There is only one change after the Vuelta a Burgos, as Quagliotto replaces Marjolein Van’t Geloof.
