DOUBLE TOP 20 AT THE OMLOOP HET NIEUWSBLAD:

The season of the Big Classics in Belgium started today with the 14th Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, on the cobblestoned roads of the Flanders. The Team Alè - Cipollini obtained a 14th place with Chloe Hosking and an 18th with Soraya Paladin, who camed with the main peloton (including the Japanese Eri Yonamine) a minute later than the race winner Chantal Blaak.

Quotes by the Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti: “It has been a good race, even with poor luck for us due to a pair of crashes where we had to chase the best positions losing a lot of energies. We will try again tomorrow and on Tuesday here in Belgium to be ready for the Women’s World Tour races”.

Tomorrow, 3rd March, the Team will race the Omloop van Het Hageland with seven riders: Chloe Hosking, Karlijn Swinkels, Marjolein Van’t Geloof, Eri Yonamine, Nadia Quagliotto, Romy Kasper and Diana Peñuela. This race will start and finish in Tielt-Winge and has a length of 132.6 kms with some sectors on cobbles.

On Tuesday, 5th March there is the GP Le Samyn des Dames: the start is in Quaregnon and the finish is in Dour, Wallonie, after 126 kms. Six athletes will take part here: Soraya Paladin, Nadia Quagliotto, Marjolein Van’t Geloof, Karlijn Swinkels, Romy Kasper and Diana Peñuela.
