Eleven years later since the World Title in Stuttgart, the Italian Cycling star Marta Bastianelli has taken today in Glasgow (Scotland) the Gold Medal of the European Championships in the Women Elite road race, beating the former Continental Champion Mariannel Vos and the German Lisa Brennauer.

The dream of an entire season has been realized, after the big victories in Spain, Italy and especially in Belgium (Ghent-Wevelgem included), the most prestigious one is now arrived, the Continental Gold Medal, so desired. It has arrived especially for the big teamwork of the Italian National Team, with as well Soraya Paladin (The Lithuanian Daiva Tuslaite - Ragazinskiene has been the third #YellowFluoOrange athlete in race), who did a superbe performance.

Marta’s winning sprint had no story: Marianne Vos, silver medal (same result of Stuttgart 2007) was back by about a bike of distance. Big tears of joy and happiness and hugs with the National teammates came after the finish line.

Fortunato Lacquaniti, Team Manager of Alè - Cipollini, comments happy: “We are on the top of Europe with Marta, it’s fantastic. A big joy for all of us!”. Alessia Piccolo, Team President, continues: “We are so happy for the Team and for Ale’ Cycling, producer of the Jerseys of the European Champions. It’s a true pride to have the new European Cycling Queen in the team! Congratulations Marta!
