Alé BTC Ljubljana is still protagonist on the roads of Belgium, today in Le Samyn des Dames (1.1) an excellent seventh place for the very young Laura Tomasi, the only Italian in the top 10 of the day.
Along the 92,5 km of race, from Quaregnon to Dour, the athletes of the Italian team have always been protagonists. Well done, in the final, Maaike Boogaard and above all Marlen Reusser who went on the attack several times, still showing a great condition.
The team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti makes the point: “At only 21 years old Laura Tomasi has collected a very important result. She doesn’t have much experience on the roads of Belgium, but both last Saturday and today she has shown to be able to fight with the best. Today she was also the best of the Italian riders and we are happy because she is a girl in whom we believe a lot for the future. Marlen Reusser did another super race, of great quality. Unfortunately, after only 20 kilometers, we lost Eugenia Bujak who fell in a ditch full of water, she didn’t hurt herself, luckily, but she was soaking wet and we preferred to make her stop in order not to risk a bronchitis. Mavia Garcia tried an attack. Anna Trevisi was always in front, until the last lap when a fall put several athletes out of the game, including our Mavi and Anna. In the decisive moment three of us remained in front with Reusser, Boogaard and Tomasi. Marlen tried again and then made herself available for the sprint as did Maaike in the final and then Laura played her cards in the sprint and got a great placement. I’m very happy for her and for the great work that also today all the girls have done”.
The team will come back now in Italy where in the next weekend is expected the Strade Bianche in Siena on Saturday 6th March and then the Trofeo Oro in Euro in Montignoso on Sunday 7th March.
