The condition of the girls of the team Alé BTC Ljubljana is growing from week to week, coming back from a particularly intense Easter weekend that brought an excellent performance with the placement of Marlen Reusser at the Tour of Flanders and a fifth place in the sprint of Anna Trevisi, yesterday, at the Ronde de Mouscron.

The team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti makes the point: “Considering the condition that we have at this time, I would say that our Tour of Flanders was positive. We collected a good result with Marlen Reusser who gave a great performance. She is a specialist in time trials, but she is also showing a lot of room for improvement in road races. On Saturday she tried to attack as we had agreed, got right behind the best and managed to get into the top 10. A very positive result in a great classic. Yesterday, the team behaved well also at the Ronde de Mouscron and the placing of Anna Trevisi serves to give morale to the whole team in view of the next appointments. What gives us confidence is that I see the girls growing, a very compact group and it is demonstrated by the fact that, although we are still missing an important victory, in almost all the races in which we took part we were able to be protagonists and we placed with seven different girls in the top 10. We continue to work and grow and the victories will surely come”.

So far the team has taken part in 12 competitions, won one with Marta Bastianelli on her debut in a national competition in the United Arab Emirates and then 13 times the team has placed in the top 10 with seven different athletes. Among the most important results are the fifth place of the same Bastianelli at Gent-Wevelgem, the sixth of the Spanish Mavi Garcia at the Trofeo Binda in Cittiglio and the ninth of the Swiss Marlen Reusser at the recent Tour of Flanders. Important signals have also given the young Laura Tomasi, third in the national race of Montignoso and seventh at La Samyn des Dames. Yesterday, as already said, well behaved also the Reggio Emilia-born Anna Trevisi who ranked fifth at the Ronde de Mouscron. Among those who have already collected placings there are also the Slovenian Eugenia Bujak and Ursa Pintar.

Tomorrow the team was due to take part in the Scheldeprijs in Schoten, also in Belgium, but during the usual control tests a case of Covid-19 positivity was detected within the team. Despite the fact that all other members of the team were negative, Alé BTC Ljubljana decided as a precautionary measure not to take part in tomorrow’s race out of respect for everyone’s safety.
