At the top of the demanding climb of San Luca in Bologna, Slovenian champion Ursa Pintar finished fourth and almost reached the podium in the Giro dell’Emilia Internazionale Donne Elite.
The race was won by the Danish Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope) who was able to make a difference on the final of the climb. The Alé BTC Ljubljana rider, on the other hand, was good at staying into the group of three more immediate pursuers and in the end she took a good fourth place.Tatiana Guderzo also performed well and finished seventh. As expected everything was decided in the last 2.1 km of the climb.
The sports director of Alé BTC Ljubjana Fortunato Lacquaniti said at the end of the race: “We are satified, unfortunately we lost Eugenia Bujak at the decisive moment. She was our leader today, but at five kilometres to go she had a puncture and then managed to get back only at the foot of the climb, but she wasted energy. We’re still satisfied because both Pintar and Guderzo did a great race and placing two girls in the top seven means we’re working well. It’s a great condition for the team for the most important races like La Course and Giro Rosa”.
