Young and talented British Sophie Wright will race with Alé BTC Ljubljana Cipollini in 2021

​Another new purchase for the 2021 season for the Alé BTC Ljubljana Cipollini team, which is securing the performance of promising 21-year-old British Sophie Wright.

A young and prospective athlete, born in 1999, from the Equipe Paulé Ka, who finished second this year at the Setmana Valenciana at the start of the season.

In her past there is the MTB practiced at high levels so much so that in 2016 she graduated European XCO champion among the Junior Women. In the same year she also took the bronze medal at the European Road Championship, showing a strong propensity for multidisciplinarity and great talent.

About this new adventure Sophie Wright explains: “I chose Alé BTC Ljubljana Cipollini because I’ve experienced racing with team in the pro peloton and they always portray a positive and professional image. The team seem to be very well united and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone”.

The arrival in the Italian team is a highlight for the young British girl: “I was looking to take the next step up in my cycling career for the 2021 season and beyond, so signing for my first ever World Tour team will allow me to do so and have new opportunities, so I’m very excited for what’s to come”.

Sophie Wright is also very clear about her ambitions for next season: “For next season, I hope to fulfil my allocated role as best as possible, whilst also being able to grasp the opportunity to win the best young rider’s jersey in some stage races and stand on the podium for the team”.

Alé BTC Ljubljana Cipollini’s team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti said: “Sophie is a young girl from the MTB world, but in the last two seasons she has shown great promise on the road too. She knows how to work, she has great potential and skills, especially uphill. Her choice is part of our investment programme on young athletes for the future”.
