The Palazzo della Gran Guardia, in the heart of Verona, has been the seat of the Gran Galà Alé tonight, and included the official presentation of the #YellowFluoOrange Women Cycling Team. The team has been renewed for the season 2020 for the team of the General Manager Alessia Piccolo, starting with the fusion with the Slovenian Team BTC City Ljubljana: some athletes and a part of the management and technical staff come from it. Alé and BTC Ljubljana will form a single, strong team in the Women’s World Tour: it is the one and only team in the highest category of cycling that hasn’t a “twin” men’s squad. And also it is the only Italian World Tour team.
The former professional cyclists Paolo Savoldelli (as moderator), Mario Cipollini and Andrea Noè, the President of the Italian Cycling Federation Renato Di Rocco, the Manager Giovanni Rana, local and national journalists, photographers and political autorities were present at the event.
Twelve athletes complete the roster for the season 2020: Anna Trevisi will be back after a crash that put her out of the second part of the 2019 season, then the Japanese Champion Eri Yonamine are confirmed. There is comeback of the 2007 World Champion in Stuttgart, 2018 European Champion in Glasgow and the actual Italian Champion Marta Bastianelli, with another former Rainbow Jersey winner: Tatiana Guderzo, gold medal in Mendrisio 2009 and for many times on the podium of the Giro Rosa Iccrea. The Slovenians Urska Zigart, Ursa Pintar, Eugenia Bujak (National Champion) and Urska Bravec, the Dutch Maaike Boogaard and the Russian Anastasiia Chursina come from the BTC City Ljubljana Tea. The roster is completed with the Thai sprinter Jutatip Maneephan and the Spanish climber Margarita Victoria “Mavi” Garcia.
The staff confirms Fortunato Lacquaniti and Giuseppe Lanzoni as Team Manager and Sports Director, and adds the expert Sports Director from Slovenia Gorazd Penko.
