The Iberian event is the first stage race of the year in Europe of the Team Alè - Cipollini calendar, between 21st and 24th February. There are four different stages, with a finish near the Alto de Xorret de Catì, one of the most mythical climbs of La Vuelta.
The Team line-up has been confirmed since the performance during the Volta Valenciana some days ago, and it is composed by Anna Trevisi, Soraya Paladin, Giorgia Bariani, Jelena Eric, Karlijn Swinkels and Diana Peñuela, directed by the Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti.
The race begins tomorrow with the stage 1, 126 kms between Cullera and Candia. It is a hilly stage, which is characterized by the climbs of Alto de la Barxera (Cat. 3) and Alto de Barx (Cat. 2), this is at just 13 kms from the finish line. The fast wheels will be the protagonists of the stage 2 in Vila-real, then the penultimate stage is considered as the main of this edition: from La Nucia to Castalla for 110 kms with the HC Climb of Alto de Xorret de Catì, at 1097 meters. This climb has scary datas: 437 m of height difference in only 4 kms, an average slope of 11.6%, a maximal of 22%. There will be only 2.5 km from the top to the stage finish. The final stage is between Valencia and Sagunt on Sunday, 24th February, and the overall winner will be crowned.
